Zenith Gallery Profile

Wood sculptor, furniture designer, and Shepherd Park neighbor Margery Goldberg is thrilled to be celebrating 36 years of Zenith Gallery, her showplace for the works of some of the area's most creative artists. A native of Rochester, NY, Margery owned a studio in Georgetown before opening Zenith Gallery and the Zenith Square artists' community, a 50,000 square foot art complex at 15th and Rhode Island Avenue, NW. In 1986, she moved Zenith Gallery to 7th and D Streets, NW, where she was a cornerstone of Washington's downtown art district for over 23 years.

In 2009, Margery moved Zenith Gallery to Shepherd Park. This Iris Street location is an art extravaganza, with two outdoor sculpture gardens as well as floor-to-ceiling indoor displays.

In addition to selling art, Zenith does framing, art consulting, and art appraisals. Margery also commissions art for commercial establishments and coordinates out-of-town shows for various artists. Margery was a DC Arts Commissioner for 6 years, and won the Mayor's Arts Award in 2010. In 2000, Margery started The Zenith Community Arts Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to using art to benefit the community. She lobbies city officials for more art space in Shepherd Park and at Walter Reed.
